Young Octagon connects

Young Octagon, Bolton Octagon’s performing company for young actors, has been selected as one of 300 youth theatre companies to take part in this year’s Connections festival from the National Theatre.

The festival is one of the UK’s largest celebrations of youth theatre. Each year the National commissions 10 new plays for young people to perform, bringing together some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow. Over 6,000 youngsters from every corner of the UK are producing a Connections play this year.

Bolton’s company will perform Remote, by Olivier award-winning Stef Smith, at the Octagon (April 27-28) and The Lowry, Salford (May 1). The lives of seven teenagers intertwine over the course of an evening as they make their way through a park on a seemingly normal autumn night.

Amy Hailwood, director of the Young Octagon’s production, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Young Octagon was selected to participate in this year’s festival.

“NT Connections is a fantastic programme and this opportunity enables Young Octagon to be a part of a professional production, working with some brilliant and established professional theatre-makers”.
