Touring companies Bric à Brac Theatre and Told by an Idiot are joining forces for dark comedy The Intrusion, premiering at Leeds Playhouse (March 1-8), before other northern dates at Chester Storyhouse (March 25-27) and Unity Theatre, Liverpool (March 29).
The Kafka-inspired tale follows a group of survivors navigating the end of human civilisation, explores the climate crisis and uses humour and original music in an anarchic look at extinction and survival.
The show has been developed in partnership with both experts and local community experiences of climate change.
The cast includes the founding members of Bric a Brac, Kitty Devlin (Bridgerton) and Alex Hinson. Joining Kitty and Alex is Siobhan Cha Cha. Director and fellow founding member of Bric a Brac, Anna Marshall, is currently resident director of the National Theatre’s production of War Horse and specialises in collaborative theatre.
Paul Hunter, artistic director of Told by an Idiot, said: "As the world hurtles ever closer to climate catastrophe we were interested in supporting a playfully comic response to a desperate situation."
