Jason Donovan launches the festive season at Liverpool Playhouse this December as Frank-N-Furter in the one and only Rocky Horror Show (December 3-7) alongside legendary local broadcaster Pete Price as the Narrator (December 3-5,7).
Pete said: “I’m thrilled to be taking on the role of the Narrator here in Liverpool. It’s packed with fun and a bit of madness – just my kind of thing! I can’t wait to get up there and have a laugh with the crowds.”
It's going to be a great kick-start to the show's Christmas run - and there will be no let-up when the two of them relinquish their roles to Rocky Horror veteran Stephen Webb (as Frank) and larger-than-life local heroine Leanne Campbell (as narrator) from December 9 - in Leanne's case until the show closes in Liverpool on January 4, while Stephen remains with the show on its national tour, which opened this week in York (and plays Blackpool and Sheffield before Christmas, and Newcastle, Hull, Leeds and Manchester from January).
Known for her dynamic voice, Liverpool radio favourite Leanne is looking forward to her stage Christmas:
"I’ve been Time Warping for as long as I can remember," she says, "so stepping into this role feels like coming home!
"I can’t wait to bring some scouse attitude and Christmas sparkle to the stage - let’s make this the wildest Rocky Horror Show yet!”
Richard O'Brien's campy, hilarious musical has been a global phenomenon for more than five decades. It tells the story of Brad and his fiancée Janet, two squeaky clean college kids, who meet Dr Frank-N-Furter when their car breaks down outside his house.
The score features all the famous musical numbers that have made the show such a huge hit, including Sweet Transvestite, Science Fiction/Double Feature, Dammit Janet and the timeless floor-filler, Time Warp.
