Turn On Fest to return to Hope Mill

Hope Mill Theatre is to repeat its successful LGBTQIA+ “Turn on Fest” from January.

The festival, launched in January this year before the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown in March, was created by the Manchester theatre and LGBT+ arts organisation Superbia to explore gender, sexuality and identity.

The theatre will again offer four local LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual and others not identifying themselves as heterosexual) artists the chance of festival commissions. Development grant applications are now being accepted.

The festival will run over two weeks in January and will feature programming from Superbia, Mother’s Ruin, new LGBTQIA+ work, music, dance and more. The full festival programme will be announced over the coming weeks.

The festival is offering local LGBTQIA+ artists the chance to receive funding to develop an existing idea or project as part of the festival. Four successful companies or individuals will receive a £1,000 commission, marketing support, mentoring and rehearsal space. Applications can be made here.
