Blackpool's own TikTok digital diva Kitty Harris will be Cinderella in the resort's Grand Theatre panto this Christmas (December 6-January 5) – and when she steps on to the historic Grand stage for the first time, she will be making entertainment history...
Kitty - daughter of the late ventriloquist Keith Harris - has become world famous on TikTok for her comedy sketches and behind-the-scenes glimpses into her daily life, where her unique blend of humour and storytelling have earned her 1.2 million followers. She is also trained in musical theatre and is currently starring in the hit UK tour of Burlesque the Musical.
As Kitty steps on to the Grand stage this festive season it will also mark a special moment in the town's entertainment history, as her father Keith performed for many years with his puppets Orville the Duck and Cuddles the Monkey at the Grand. Dad also still holds the record for most seats sold in a summer season at the theatre for his legendary five-month run in 1983.
Kitty said: “I’m over the moon to be in my home town this Christmas for the pantomime season. It’s been a dream of mine to perform at the beautiful Grand Theatre. I’m so excited to work with this talented cast and to see some familiar faces in the audience!”
Pantomime producer Martin Dodd, of UK Productions, said: “Kitty is the perfect fit to slip into Cinderella’s famous shoes. She has such an infectious charisma and connection with audiences both on stage and online, and this exciting blend of tradition with the modern world is what pantomime is all about.”
Kitty will be joined on stage by TV’s Hayley Tamaddon (Coronation Street, Emmerdale), Britain’s Got Talent finalist Steve Royle and dame duo Jamie Morris and Tarot Joseph returning as Ugly Sisters, Melody and Harmony Hard-Up. And of course, there's the sensational Shetland ponies…
