Spicy new comedy Devilled Eggs and powerful new play Pram Talk will lead a host of events at Blackpool Grand Theatre’s first Storytelling Festival this weekend, which also includes creative workshops and masterclasses for local schoolchildren.

The Grand’s creative learning team has been working with local young "Story Ambassadors" and cultural education providers across the town to plan the festival, which will run at the theatre from July 8-10.

The three-day event includes workshops and seminars, the return of the Grand’s award-winning Tales Retold and Shakespeare Nation community initiatives, as well as the live productions of Devilled Eggs (July 8) and Pram Talk (July 10).

It all kicks off with a Story Ambassadors Day on July 8. Young people from schools across Blackpool and the Fylde coast met earlier in the year to plan the event and chose themes (Fantasy, Historical Fiction and Horror) for the work that will be shared on the day by almost 200 children. The young writers will also take ideas from stories about "The Black Pool" and the famous Friends of the Grand who marched to save the theatre in the 1980s.
