Walkden-born Coronation Street and Strictly Come Dancing star Catherine Tyldesley makes her musical theatre debut with Hollyoaks and Holby City’s Daisy Wood-Davis when they share the role of crime conspirator Blanche Barrow (Clyde Barrow's sister-in-law and gang member) in the new UK tour of Bonnie & Clyde The Musical.
They are joined by Eastenders actor Danny Hatchard in his musical theatre debut, and Heathers and Newsies star Alex James-Hatton, who will share the leading role of Clyde Barrow across the tour. Playing Bonnie Parker throughout the run will be Katie Tonkinson - most recently seen in the West End and international tour of Bat Out of Hell.
Opening in Leicester in February, the tour arrives at Manchester's Palace Theatre next May (7-11). Other northern dates so far announced are Bradford Alhambra (June 11-15); Blackpool Opera House (June 23-29) and Sheffield Lyceum (October 8-12). The UK tour follows two seasons in London’s West End.
Bonnie & Clyde The Musical is the story of two small-town kids – Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker – from the middle of nowhere, who became the biggest folk villains in America in the early 1930s and were shot dead by police in 1934 after many robberies and murders.
The production features music by Tony nominee Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlett Pimpernell), lyrics by Tony and Oscar-winner Don Black (Sunset Boulevard, Aspects of Love) and a book by Emmy Award nominee Ivan Menchell.
