Inspired by three real-life, Hull-born skateboarding sisters and their Olympic medallist hero Sky Brown, Sisters 360 (aimed at audiences aged eight and over) is a new play from Bradford playwright Asif Khan at Leeds Playhouse (May 7-10) before a community tour across the Leeds area.
Fatima and Salima are step-sisters convinced they will win the Tiny is Mighty skateboarding competition – there’s no doubt about it. But their parents have started whispering about living apart. How will the sisters perfect their routine and win gold if their lives are about to turn around completely?

Writer Asif Khan said: “Sisters 360 was inspired by Layna, Maysa and Amaya, three young Muslim sisters from Hull, who themselves were inspired by 13-year-old skateboarder Sky Brown at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to take up the sport. I loved how the sisters were breaking so many stereotypes, not only about being Muslim, but also being girls skateboarding.
“I hope the play will, in a small way, provide some joy and positive representation, as well as being a really fun experience. I can guarantee that Fatima and Salima are truly the coolest people to hang out with!”
Playing the sisters are Sara Abanur (Of All The Beautiful Things In The World, HOME Manchester) and Farah Ashraf (Pink Rabbit, Theatre503). Sisters 360 is part of the Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture programme from May 30-31.
