BAFTA-award winning Noreen (Our Girl, Coronation Street, Shameless) will direct one of the six new short plays in this celebration of female playwrights, now in its fourth edition and bringing together emerging and established creatives to produce quality theatre.

HER productions, a Manchester-based team of female theatre makers, commissioned the scripts and all involved will meet regularly to develop their pieces. Hope Mill has supported Vignettes since the project’s inception in early 2020.

This year's writers are: Carmel Morgan (Brookside, Coronation Street, Shameless); Nikki Mailer; Steph Lacey; Houmi Miura (BBC Writersroom Drama Room 2022, In The Beginning, Woman Was The Sun); Alex Keelan (Vignettes co-founder) and Lekhani Chirwa (45 North, Burn Bright).

Co-founder actor and producer Hannah Ellis Ryan, best known as Coronation Street villain Hannah Gilmore, said: “Every year we bring a new group of women together to pen stories they care about and are consistently amazed by the quality and originality. This year, we have six truly remarkable new plays and are working with a varied, diverse and dynamic team of women.”
