Roald Dahl’s Charlie And The Chocolate Factory – The Musical is Leeds Playhouse’s new spectacular for the Christmas 2022 season.
Directed by Leeds Playhouse artistic director James Brining, this reinvention of the successful West End and Broadway musical runs from November 18-January 28.
Brining said: “This is such a special story, loved by generations for almost 60 years. It’s fantastic to have the chance to revisit the successful West End and Broadway versions and create a new production for audiences here in Leeds.
“It's got memorable characters, well-loved songs and the iconic Willy Wonka at its heart, and it's a golden opportunity to create an entertaining and uplifting family show.
“As Leeds regenerates and our thriving community continues to grow and develop, we’re looking forward to creating a brilliant festive buzz and celebrating the season with everyone.”
The scrumptious tale features memorable songs from the iconic 1970s film. The main Quarry stage at Leeds Playhouse will be transformed into the chocolate-fuelled Willy Wonka factory by award-winning designer Simon Higlett.
