Sarah and Duck entertain the young

The world of CBeebies’ hit animated series Sarah & Duck comes to The Lowry in Salford next month.

Sarah & Duck’s Big Top Birthday visits Salford from August 23-28, featuring characters from the BAFTA award-winning children’s TV show, including seven-year-old Sarah and Duck, The Ribbon Sisters, The Shallots, Flamingo and Umbrella, who are planning a circus-themed birthday party in their garden. But when the weather turns windy and the big top is blown away, will Sarah and Duck be able to save the day?

The show features a blend of puppetry, storytelling and music, with familiar voices from the CBeebies series, including Roger Allam and Lesley Nicol.

Sarah and Duck have been favourites since their debut in 2013. A year later the series won a BAFTA for Best Pre-School Animation and the show has regularly been in in the TV channel's top 10 programmes for young viewers. The series has reached its 120th episode and is seen in over 100 countries. The stage show (recommended for three to six-year olds) has been written by Polka children's theatre artistic director Peter Glanville and the series co-creator, Sarah Gomes Harris.

The show's tour also takes it to Oswaldtwistle Civic Arts Centre (July 24) and York Theatre Royal (August 30-31)
