Celebrating 30 years since the publication of the original book, the stage version of Raymond Briggs' The Bear arrives at Waterside Arts in Sale for Christmas (December 1-29).
The adaptation, by Pins and Needles, co-produced by Exeter's Northcott Theatre, was a hit at Waterside seven years ago and returns to mark the anniversary. Director Emma Earle said: ‘It’s wonderful to bring it back again in the book’s 30th year. We have brought some unforgettable highlights to Waterside over the years, and the timeless appeal of Raymond Briggs is undeniable. This beautiful adaptation will charm a new generation of audiences."
Using puppetry and live music, the show tells the story of an enormous polar bear who comes to stay with young girl Tilly. Tilly gives it a bath and clears up its poo, quickly forms a firm friendship and is soon riding on its back, dancing and playing...
