If you can't wait to get back in a theatre seat after the Christmas break, book yourself a ticket for the unusual one-act play Podcast Wars at the White Hotel in Salford on February 16 (note the new date: the show was originally scheduled for February 2).
Unusual because it's a stage play about podcasts and claims to be a two-hander – except it features only one actor, Hamish Rush, playing two characters.
Writer Austin Collings - who also directs – has created a claustrophobic story, set – appropriately enough – in a world of illusion, about two men filled with messy emotions. "It's two fuses, slowly but loudly burning down," he says. "We don't know what this distressed pair are capable of, and nor do they. It's at once sinister and laughably warped, a territorial battle ultimately about whose perception of reality will prevail."
