Two years after it was shut down by coronavirus, Manchester-based company Box of Tricks is embarking on a new northern tour of its acclaimed immersive theatre event The Last Quiz Night on Earth.
The tour starts in Manchester on February 23 and travels to North Wales, the Midlands, North Yorkshire and all points in between, visiting church halls, pubs and unusual venues (full list here - scroll down).
Among the typical venues is Oldham's Bank Top Tavern on March 14 and 15 – Oldham being the place that saw the original tour close, on March 16, 2020 – the night lockdown restrictions began, before the show had even been staged in the town.
Tickets for the Oldham run – staged with Oldham Coliseum and Live@TheLibrary – come with complimentary pie (and yes, vegetarian options are available) and peas, but the tour can't promise that at every venue...
Alison Carr's show is an immersive comedy with a twist, coincidentally set the night before an apocalyptic event and featuring actors Chris Hoyle, Matthew Khan, Meriel Schofield and Tilly Sutcliffe.
An asteroid is heading toward the earth, so what would you do? Obviously, head to your local for a last pub quiz. Landlady Kathy invites audiences to the last quiz night ever with quizmaster Rav. He’s the host with the most, but with time ticking out, some unanticipated guests turn up out of the blue. Expect the unexpected to the bitter end – and plenty of drama. And quiz questions.
