
The Dukes Lancaster has announced a fully-filled spring and summer season, ranging from drama and comedy through to its family-favourite open-air show in the city's WIlliamson Park.
Macbeth (June 10-12) and The Taming of the "Shrew" (May 23-24), from Manchester-based HER Productions, head the drama selection, which also includes Spitfire Girls (May 6-10) from the Tilted Wig company; Farm Boy (May 14) - Michael Morpurgo's sequel to War Horse; In Other Words (April 15), exploring the impact of music on the symptoms of dementia, and Imaginary Friends (April 10-11), a new piece from local writer Daniel Bye, his first solo piece in seven years.
The theatre's fringe theatre venue, Moor Space, has some boundary-pushing, immersive and interactive titles: Emmerson & Ward are back with their latest show, Buff (May 16); Local (June 13) by Cumbrian writer and performer Liz Richardson, and Shellshocked (June 27).
Families can enjoy The Three Little Vikings (April 20), and for mini-musicians there is Shlomo’s Beatbox Adventure for Kids (April 8).
There's a range of one-night. stand-up comedy; the cinema has some of the latest releases and the Williamson Park Show this year is The Wizard Oz (July 18-August 24), turning the spectacular Williamson Park into the Emerald City.
