Opera North is preparing a cultural feast this festive season, taking music of all kinds across the north and celebrating the first Christmas of Kino, the new restaurant at its central Leeds home.

The Orchestra of Opera North's packed December schedule includes The Nutcracker and The Snowman in Huddersfield and Bradford; the much-loved Christmas Gala with the Company's Chorus at Dewsbury Town Hall; Handel's Messiah with Huddersfield Choral Society; and New Year Viennese Whirls in Huddersfield and Hull.

The Howard Assembly Room’s eclectic programme continues with a sold-out date for the Tallis Scholars; a new festive commission from a multi-award-winning musician and Ivor Novello Award-winning composer Martin Green; Awake Arise with Lady Maisery and friends; and Winter Solstice, marking the longest night with a new collaboration between Kirpal Singh Panesar (dilruba), rabab player Saphwat Sinab and composer, sound designer and lyra player Dimitris Menexopoulos, in partnership with South Asian Arts-uk.

The young musicians of Opera North’s Winter Orchestra Academy will follow three intensive days of rehearsal with a concert for Christmas shoppers outside Leeds’ John Lewis store, and Opera North’s Children’s Chorus, Young Voices and Youth Chorus perform their Christmas concert at Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall.
