Classic British musical Oliver! is the latest Christmas spectacular for Leeds Playhouse, following in the tradition of previous seasonal hits including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Wizard of Oz.
The show will again be directed by Playhouse artistic director James Brining and will run November 27-January 27.
Lionel Bart's classic, award-winning, world-wide hit, adapted from the Dickens novel, features some of the most memorable characters and well-loved songs of any musical, including Food, Glorious Food, Oom Pah-Pah, I’d Do Anything, As Long As He Needs Me and Where is Love?.
James Brining, said: “Oliver is such an incredible story, an exciting adventure that has captivated generations from book, to film, to hit West End musical. It’s an epic, big-hearted, theatrical story, which makes it a perfect choice for this year’s large-scale winter show.
“Our winter show is a key moment in our year for our audiences. It’s an opportunity for friends and family to gather, for schools to enjoy a festive treat and often the moment when young people are introduced to theatre for the first time." The production team and cast will be announced at a later date. Relaxed and Dementia Friendly performances will be available and a selection of digital resources will be free to all schools booking for the show.
Tickets are on sale now to the theatre's priority members, and go on sale to the general public from next Wednesday (April 19). An early-bird ticket offer is also in place - details from the theatre.
