Oldham Coliseum is looking for creatively-minded 18 to 25-year-olds to work on their dance, music, drama, film, writing, digital or completely out-of-the-box ideas in Mashup, a special, week-long programme this August.
The theatre company is looking for around 15 people living in Oldham who are keen to create and perform original work, and are even more keenly looking for a wider circle of people to respond to and be inspired by.
No experience? It doesn’t matter, say the organisers (Coliseum, Oldham Theatre Workshop, MAHDLO and Northern Roots): the week is about taking creative risks and trying new things. Participants will be guided by artist mentors across music, theatre, digital media and other fields, and the result in each case will be a three-minute performance.
The week – August 9-17 - will have sessions in Oldham, and those chosen will also need to be available between 10am-5pm on the weekends of August 9-10 and 16-17. Those chosen will receive a stipend of £250... and free pizza
“This isn’t a competition – it’s a team,” say the organisers. ”We’re forming a new creative crew; you bring your ideas, we bring the support. We want to hear big and small ideas, new bold collaborations and a mix of music, movement, stories, visuals and vibes.”
Applications can now be made by filling in this online form. You can also look at this sample form, which offers some answers to the form’s questions, for inspiration - but we suggest you don’t copy them… Alternatively you can send a voice note or video answering the same questions to info@coliseum.org.uk. If you have questions, email helengoodman@coliseum.org.uk. There will also be drop-in recruitment sessions in Oldham over the rest of June, see here
The deadline for applications is midnight on June 29.
