Bolton's Octagon Theatre has another summer of free, interactive storytelling sessions as its Sharing Stories project returns for a tour across the town's libraries.
Launched in 2022, the theatre's community project works with families across thge town to design storytelling and creative, literacy-based activities for young people. Families can enjoy a live reading of popular children’s books, followed by a creative session with activities including dance, puppetry, arts and crafts.
Libraries on the tour include: Farnworth (July 26), Westhoughton ( July 29), Breightmet (August 6), High Street (August 15), Little Lever (August 20) and Horwich (August 30).
Each venue will include a different story and a new activity, so families can attend more than one event and find them different each time. All the sessions will last around 45 minutes and are free, with no booking required. Sessions are suitable for all the family, from babies and toddlers to children up to 11 - and their grown-ups.
The story sessions will form part of the Octagon’s summer family programme, which includes the return of the theatre's annual free family festival, which takes place during the August Bank Holiday weekend and offers three, fun-filled days of indoor and outdoor family events.
