Bolton Octagon is looking for creative ideas from its over-50s as part of its ReAct initiative.
ReAct is a National Lottery-funded project working with Boltonians to set up new arts activities and help them become leaders in arts engagement within their own age range.
As part of the project the Octagon is trying to find Community Creators – people in the age group with creative ideas to make a positive change in the community and to help stay connected during the pandemic.
The theatre is keen to hear any idea that can make a difference to people’s lives, from online wellbeing workshops and hobby clubs to ways to get creative outdoors.
Since ReAct was launched in 2020 it has successfully run ReAct Music Sessions with Bolton Dementia Support – a series of relaxed music sessions for those living with dementia; and ReAct Theatre Club – an over-50s group dedicated to watching, reading and discussing plays and theatre.
ReAct producer Caitlin Gleeson said: “The aim of ReAct is to use creativity to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing for local over-50s. When we launched the project we had no idea of the challenges the Covid-19 pandemic would bring, and it's more important than ever to ensure we stay connected with people who may be struggling.
“We would love to hear any ideas that could be developed into projects to enrich and uplift the lives of the people of Bolton. You might have a fully-formed plan, or just a spark of inspiration. Whatever stage you’re at, get in touch!
If you want to get involved, contact Caitlin and tell her a little bit about yourself, your idea, who it is aimed at and what is needed to make it happen.
Contact her by email here or call 07930 689292 (9.30am-5.30pm, Mon-Wed only, voicemail outside these times).
The Octagon won't be able to support every idea, but will get back to everyone who makes suggestions and will support as many as it can.
