Lisa Allen is the new CEO at Shakespeare North Playhouse. She joins from HOME Manchester, where she was head of theatre, orogramming, producing and creative development.
Lisa will be the Prescot-based, award-winning theatre's second CEO following Melanie Lewis, who stepped down in June.
Since opening in July 2022, Shakespeare North Playhouse has received more than 30 awards and nominations and welcomed over 250,000 visitors – 10 per cent of whom had never visited a theatre before, and the building continues to play a major role in the regeneration of Prescot and Knowsley.
Prior to HOME, Lisa was co-head of culture at Rpchdale's Touchstones Gallery, associate artistic director for engagement at Bolton Octagon, programme producer for the National Association of Youth Theatre, associate artistic airector for Burnley Youth Theatre and for two years worked in various arts organisations in Singapore.
She said: “I look forward to working with the talented team here to continue the incredible work they have been doing since the building opened. I'm excited by the rich heritage of Prescot and can't wait to work alongside the communities in Knowsley and the Liverpool City Region.
"I feel incredibly lucky to work in such a beautiful theatre, creating joyful and enriching experiences.”
The playhouse's chairman, Max Steinberg, said “Lisa is joining us at a very exciting time. I'm confident that under her leadership, Shakespeare North will continue to grow locally and nationally, as well as our range of productive and meaningful partnerships.”
