Christmas Lights (December 13-30), a new festive show at Manchester's Z Arts, has been created for children as young as one year old.
The unique theatre hub for children and families provides a warm and cosy start to Christmas traditions every year, and this year will be no exception as it stages a show with original music, playful performance and integrated BSL.
Families will sit in the snow-covered garden as they join friends Alvie and Kit who embark on a playful mission to light up their house in time for Christmas.
The show comes from lStroud-based, award-winning, internationally-touring Filskit Theatre, which specialises in staging performances for the youngest of audiences using puppetry, music and sensory elements.
Christmas Lights - suggested age range is one to four-years-old - is highly visual, with very little dialogue; the actors will perform many words using British Sign Language. Audiences will be invited to stay and play with the performers in the snow-covered garden after the show.
Zoe Pickering, who is head of programming at Z-arts, said: “We are excited to have Filskit Theatre make this beautiful show for our youngest audiences - for many of whom it will be their first theatre trip.”
Z-arts is a major UK arts centre dedicated to creative provision for children and families, aiming to inspire and enable generations of young people from Greater Manchester and the North West to use creativity to maximise their potential.
The company engages with tens of thousands of people every year in programmes with local communities, schools and colleges, as well as offering international touring shows.
