THE acclaimed new London Palladium production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will come to Manchester’s Opera House for two weeks in March, the theatre has announced.

The show will also visit Liverpool Empire (June 6-11) and Leeds Grand (July 12-23), and more dates are expected to be announced in the next few weeks.

The visit will run from March 21 and will feature star singer and actress Alexandra Burke as the narrator, with original London Joseph, Jason Donovan – in the Nineties his first stage role – as the Pharoah.

The production has played two recent seasons at the London Palladium, in 2019 and over this summer. Actor Jac Yarrow - who joined the star pair in London this time, also in his first stage role, will repeat the performance as Joseph that won him an Olivier award nomination.

Producer Michael Harrison said: “I’m delighted to bring this joyous show to Manchester next spring. Our ‘dream team’ casting will enchant newcomers and long-standing fans alike; Jac has wowed audiences and critics with his spectacular debut.”

Released as a concept album in 1969, the stage version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has become one of the world’s most beloved family musicals. The multi-award-winning show, which began life as a small-scale school concert, has been performed hundreds of thousands of times including multiple runs in the West End and on Broadway, international tours and productions in over 80 countries as far afield as Austria and Zimbabwe, Israel to Peru.
