Producers are casting South Asian performers for the company of Come Fall In Love - The DDLJ Musical - based on Dilwale Dulhania le Jayenge, Bollywood's most successful film.
The stage musical will have its UK premiere at Manchester's Opera House next year (May 29-June 21).
The casting call goes out for "exceptional" dancers, singers and actors from a South Asian background, who should email their CV, contact details, headshot and a short audition video (two minutes maximum) showing off their skills here.
Closing date for submissions is January 7, 2025. Auditions will start on January 13, and successful applicants will start rehearsals in London on April 14.
Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical will be set in the UK and directed by Aditya Chopra, who directed the original, record-breaking Hindi-language film. DDLJ is the longest-running film in Indian cinema, playing continuously in Mumbai since its release in 1995. The UK stage musical adaptation will feature a score of 18 new songs.
The show tells the story of Simran, a young British Indian woman whose future is set: an arranged marriage back in India to a family friend. But when she convinces her strict father that she should spend a summer of freedom and fun in Europe, she falls in love with Rog, a rich, charming British boy who is her father’s worst nightmare. Can she be true to both her heritage and her heart? Can carefree Rog win over her traditional father?
