Hull Truck Theatre's autumn season begins with a critically-acclaimed comedy drama and a reimagining of one of the world’s favourite gothic horror stories. John Godber’s Yorkshire caravan park comedy Perfect Pitch (September 17-21) is followed by Tilted Wig's production of Frankenstein (October 22-26). The venue's Drama Deal also includes Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men (March 5-22, 2025) and an adaptation of Maureen Lennon’s classic feminist novel Mary and the Hyenas (February 7- March 1). Booking for all four shows works out at just £16.50 a ticket.
The double header for Christmas is The Borrowers (November 29-January 4), directed by the Hull Truck's artistic director Mark Babych, and Rapunzel (December 12-29).
The John Godber Company also premieres new play One Punch (October 8-10) focusing on the devastating consequences of single-punch violence. How To Be Brave (November 1-2) is based on the debut novel by writer Louise Beech, telling the story of Colin Armitage’s rescue from a raft on which he survived for 50 days after his ship was torpedoed in the South Atlantic.
Love It If We Beat Them (October 1-2) is a new political drama that explores a time of significant change in the identity of the North East communities.
Continuing Hull Truck’s long-standing collaboration Freedom Festival will again present cultural experiences that will create an evocative and immersive journey for families and small children. Univers (August 28-30) is a poetic sensory experience for ages 0-2, based on visual imagery and live music, while Bob Marley for Babies (August 31-September 1), for children two and under, is the second part of the trilogy that La Petita Malumaluga kicked off with the international hit Beatles For Babies (a tribute concert to The Beatles).
Family and children’s entertainment includes Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book (October 10-12).
The Hull Comedy Festival is back, offering everything from drag artists to famous stand ups
Jeddy Bear and Gary Save The World (October 30), features Hull’s comedy duo as part of the festival, in a new show that combines fun facts, amazing new powers and cool stuff about our awesome planet.
