HOME Manchester has confirmed its mix of free, streamed and pay-what-you prefer Christmas shows both online and live will go ahead as planned - no matter how the government’s tiers might change.
HOME teams have worked out how to switch between live-streamed and live theatre for the theatre’s adult-orientated Christmas show, Sh!t Actually (details here), and are to make festive family show Duckie (details here) available online on-demand, so families can watch when they wish.
Both shows are available on a “pay-what-you-decide” basis online, while Sh!t Theatre’s adults-only satirical take on the movie Love Actually will either be live-streamed or live in the theatre, depending on the latest regulations. Tickets for the live show will be £10.
HOME is also organising a Christmas collaboration with classical music group Manchester Camerata, which is due to be released free online on December 22.
The first performance of Sh!t Actually, on December 12, will be available online, with performances from Dec 16 changing from online to live (assuming Manchester is downgraded to a level two risk tier). Existing ticket-holders will be contacted once an update is forthcoming. An accessible version of the show will also be available online.
HOME’s family show, Le Gateau Chocolat’s Duckie, will be available exclusively online on demand, allowing audiences world-wide to enjoy their version of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale of The Ugly Duckling.
The show was initially due to run from December 16-23, but will now be available online until January 3. Set in an animal circus, Duckie takes the audience on an adventure of self-discovery with family-friendly glitter in a “celebration of difference”.
The special collaboration with Manchester Camerata – details to come – can be enjoyed free by audiences at home from December 22.
HOME’s head of programming Kevin Jamieson said: “We were determined to bring these shows to an audience no matter what. Our team at HOME has worked incredibly hard to ensure we can respond quickly to the latest government announcements and ensure everyone can enjoy these shows whether in our theatre or from home.”
