Blackpool’s historic Grand Theatre is looking for new board members to help the two trusts that run the seaside theatre to improve and grow.
Two voluntary boards operate the building: the Trust, which owns the Grade II* listed building, and Arts & Entertainment, which operates the arts, education and heritage business.
Being a board member and charitable trustee is a voluntary role with full training given and out-of-pocket expenses covered. No previous experience is necessary, but a passion for the theatre and an understanding of its importance to society is essential. Trustees serve for four years and can then be re-elected for a further four.
Several board members are now currently coming to the end of their service of four meetings a year (at the theatre), and new appointees members will be encouraged to attend events at the Grand to broaden their knowledge and advocate for the charities. Arts & Entertainment board chairman, Tony Stone, said: “It’s a very rewarding job. I can honestly say it’s been one of the most stimulating and fulfilling roles I have had the pleasure of doing. I very much look forward to welcoming the next set of trustees."
