Camp, cartoonish global comedy sensation Gwyneth Goes Skiing will open its new UK tour at Manchester's Hope Mill Theatre from September 11-21 – its only Northern date.
The show recounts the collision, in 2016, on the ski slopes of Deer Valley, Utah, between Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow and litigious retired optometrist Terry Sanderson – a case so bizarre it captured news headlines around the world (and Paltrow won).
Gwyneth - the show, not the actress - takes to the slopes again after two sold-out runs in London and a season in Park City, Utah, scene of the real-life trial. There, the show was enjoyed by both Paltrow and Sanderson's legal teams, as well as witnesses and jurors from the trial itself.
The drama makes the audience the jury, asking them to decide who's guilty and who's gooped.
The tour stars Linus Karp as Paltrow and Joseph Martin as her nemesis. Emmy and Golden Globe winner and Broadway legend Darren Criss provides the singing voice of Terry Sanderson. Criss is best known for playing Blaine Anderson in Glee, alongside the real Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as his lead role in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
Edinburgh Comedy Award-winning comedian, actress and singer Cat Cohen lends her voice as Gwyneth Paltrow on the vocal track. Drag legend, television personality, make-up mogul and singer-songwriter Trixie Mattel makes a special on-screen appearance as Gwyneth Paltrow’s mother.
