Grand chance to tour Blackpool theatre

Blackpool's Grand Theatre will be throwing open its doors on September 17 as part of the national Heritage Open Day project.

Visitors can arrive anytime from 9.30am-1pm to roam the beautiful Grade II* listed building, designed in the mid 1890s by the greatest of the late-Victorian theatre architects, Frank Matcham.

Booking isn't necessary unless you want to see the theatre interior in greater depth, in which case theatre staff are offering free (normally £7.50 each), 30-minute guided tours at 9.45am, 10.45am and 11.45am (though be aware that these are almost full – book here, if still available). Also be aware that since the Grand is from an earlier age of architecture, parts of the tour are not accessible by wheelchairs or for people with other mobility issues.

Heritage Open Day was established in 1994 to raise appreciation for our country’s vast range of cultural assets and to highlight the need for their care and protection. Today it's the country's largest community heritage festival.
