Getting RAWDy at Christmas

North West disability charity RAWD (Random Acts of Wildness Disability) is involved in not one but two shows in the region this Christmas.

RAWD produces inclusive arts experiences and performances intended to present and amplify the disabled perspective.

The group celebrates its first year as an associate company in residence at Theatre Porto in Ellesmere Port with Tinsel on the Tracks, an inclusive, family-friendly pantomime with a disabled perspective, based on Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

RAWD's original panto runs only on December 8 (4pm) at Theatre Porto, a community-driven performance with songs, laughter and seasonal cheer. It’s December at the station, and there's festive cheer in the air. But for Ed it’s all a bit too much. Ed hates Christmas, and we step on board the train to track Ed’s past, present, and future.

RAWD is also in its third year as an associate company at Liverpool's Unity Theatre, where it will present specially-written panto The Little Mersey Mermaid.

The show is based on The Little Mermaid, but with a heartwarming Liverpudlian twist. Ariel isn’t a typical mermaid – indeed she’s not a mermaid at all, just a girl with a big dream: she wants to be a scouser! In a tale of ferry rivalries and a hunt for a long lost Ma, Ariel searches for answers.

The show will be performed only twice, on December 7 (4pm) and December 9 (7:30pm).
