Writer and performer Barbara Diesel premiered her short show Dear Eliza at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival last year, where it was shortlisted for the best newcomer award.
The show now returns for a UK tour, with northern dates at The Kings Arms in Salford ( January 30-31) and The Studio Below in Liverpool (February 15-17).
The play investigates the deterioration of a friendship under the strain of mental ill health, balancing heartbreak with humour to create an honest tribute to real life as a mentally-ill person.
Following the success of its Fringe premiere, director Helen Parry joined the team and the script has been further developed, extending it to 45 minutes. Parry’s extensive experience spans decades in the industry as a director of theatre and teacher at both ALRA and Arden drama schools.
The team of Dear Eliza is raising money for MIND alongside this tour, with donations accepted at the end of each performance. Donations can also be made online via JustGiving, here.
Due to its strong language and mentions of suicide, the show is not recommended for under 16s.
