First birthday weekend for Theatre Porto

Poster for Theatre Porto's Topsy Turvy weekend

Theatre Porto is going all topsy-turvy to celebrate its first birthday from August 10-13.

The children's theatre is running an arts weekend at its base in Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port, with free and pay what you like performances and special events. The highlights include indoor and outdoor performances, acrobatics, beat-boxing, family-friendly gigs, puppetry and an aerial performance on a giant swing. Indoor shows from Dommy B and Paris Bubbles and the Family Catwalk Extravaganza require advance booking since capacity is limited, but outdoors you can see The Bee Cart from Pif Paf Theatre, The Most Dangerous Cup of Tea Show from Tit For Tat), Tape That – a circus show involving a suitcase of duct tape, plus lots of music. Theatre Porto will also be exhibiting artwork from their schools project If Children Ruled the World, and another highlight will be Great, Big, Little Parade’ featuring 7 to 11-year-olds from the company's popular Drama Droplets groups.

As Theatre Porto celebrates the first birthday of its new theatre building, the specialist theatre and cultural centre is inviting everyone to join in the celebrations at a Big Birthday Picnic, which starts the weekend from 2pm-4pm on Thursday, August 10 with an afternoon of fun, games and cake, free for local families.
