London Classic Theatre's new production of Brian Friel’s Faith Healer is on tour to Theatr Clwyd, Mold (September 12-16).
LCT director Michael Cabot said, “I’ve wanted to direct Faith Healer for many years; it's one of the great plays of the 20th Century – arguably Friel’s masterpiece.”
Frank Hardy has a gift of healing. Through the 1950s-60s, he and his wife Grace travel to remote corners of Scotland, Wales and Ireland with their manager, Teddy. As they move from village to village, bringing an unpredictable mix of theatricality and spirituality, the sick, the suffering and the desperate arrive in search of restoration and a cure.
Paul Carroll and Gina Costigan play Frank and Grace. Paul's theatre credits include The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Twelfth Night and A Skull in Connemara. His solo sketch show 40 Shades of Strawberry Blond played at Soho Theatre, London and Brighton Festival, while Gina has appeared in An Triail le Mairead Ni Ghrada (Irish tour) and The Risen People (Dublin).
Jonathan Ashley, who plays Teddy, has previously appeared in The Birthday Party, Waiting for Godot, Entertaining Mr Sloane, The Importance of Being Earnest and The Double Inconstancy for London Classic.
Faith Healer has only one other northern performance, at Alnwick Playhouse on October 19.
