Factory Lost and Found

Factory International in Manchester is to stage the premiere of Oliver Jeffers' award-winning children's book, Lost and Found.

The book, which won the Nestle's Smarties Book Prize in 2005 and the Blue Peter book award the following year, will be part of Factory’s opening season in December.

Adapted and directed by BAFTA award-winning director Will Brenton (CBeebies, Coronation Street), the show will open on December 15 until January 6, 2024.

The story is a heart-warming, magical tale of friendship and loneliness, which follows the journey of a little boy who one day finds a penguin on his doorstep.

The simplicity of Jeffers’ illustrative style will be captured in the watercolour washes of the stage set and costume design, which will blend puppetry and performance. The puppets are designed by puppeteer Olly Taylor.

Director Will Brenton said: “Lost and Found is a beautiful story. Oliver’s work shows us only what we need to see, and creates a personal version of the tale for anyone who reads it. I wanted to take that clarity and simplicity to the stage. For me, this story is not just about a penguin who is far from home, but someone searching for something missing from their life."
