Award-winning East-Ender and Waterloo Road star Max Bowden leads the cast of the the new UK tour of Birdsong, with northern dates at Leeds Playhouse (September 17-21); Liverpool Playhouse (October 8-12), and the Theatre Royal, Newcastle (February 11-15, 2025).
Best known for his roles as Ben Mitchell in EastEnders and Justin Fitzgerald in Waterloo Road, Bowden takes on the role of World War I trench-digger Jack Firebrace in Sebastian Faulks' epic story of love and loss.
The critically-acclaimed show tells the story of a man’s journey through an all-consuming love affair and into the horror of the war.
Bowden said: “I’m excited to be collaborating on a project close to my heart. Birdsong highlights the tragedy of war, yet the beauty of humanity simultaneously through strong relationships under extreme circumstances, and I can’t wait to bring Jack Firebrace to life.”
