A pizza delivery man from Crosby is about to serve up his own, bitter-sweet, topping.
Bernie Winston has been writing in his spare time for years but now his first play, a black comedy, is ready to serve. Enough, now, with the pizza metaphors..
With the help of Liverpool's Make It Write productions – a community interest company helping new writers to develop their skills – Bernie’s play Stand Up has its premiere at The Casa Bar in Hope Street, Liverpool on April 29-30.
Stand Up features Mark, a comic whose stage banter hides personal misery. Off stage he struggles with gambling debts and loan sharks.
Bernie says: “Meeting mentor Sharon Colpman at Make It Write really was a life-changing event. With her advice, and by attending the group’s courses and workshops, I soon found myself up and running.”
