Back by popular demand, Oldham Coliseum is airing short festive plays on its social media channels each day from today until December 24.
Advent Plays are a small daily sprinkle of Christmas lasting a few minutes each, to watch while you eat the chocolate from your advent calendar. They will be released each morning across the Coliseum’s YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels, and are also available after release on the theatre’s website.
When the theatre was closed due to the pandemic in 2020, the Coliseum produced its first Advent Plays series as one of several online Christmas attractions. The series, filmed on the theatre’s cosy living room set, was viewed online over 29,000 times.
This year, with pantomime back on stage receiving a string of four-star reviews, the theatre has put together another 24 mini-dramas, written by a mix of established writers, Coliseum associate artists, new voices and young talent. They are performed by 24 professional actors – including pantomime Dame Richard J Fletcher, and even feature a cameo from Coliseum artistic director Chris Lawson.
