Theatr Clwyd’s artistic director Tamara Harvey (@tamaracharvey) and executive director Liam Evans-Ford (@LiamEvansFord) are among five winners of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain’s annual awards for the encouragement of new writing.
The 2022 Olwen Wymark Awards allow writers to thank those who have supported them over the past year. The Clwyd duo were nominated by playwright and TV writer Alun Saunders for their work supporting freelancers and the local community during the pandemic.
Saunders said: "Tamara and Liam have thrown open their (metaphorical) doors to their local community, transforming Theatr Clwyd into a welcoming hub for anybody who might find it a useful point of contact.
"They have gone the extra mile to reach out to artists at all points throughout the lockdowns, reminding us that they’re there to listen to our concerns. I want to make it known that we see this and are grateful."
The Olwen Wymark Awards were founded by playwrights Mark Ravenhill and David James and named after playwright and former chair of the WGGB Theatre Committee Olwen Wymark, who died in 2013.
