Coronation Street actor Kimberly Hart-Simpson swaps the cobbles of soap land for a starring role in St Helens Christmas pantomime Cinderella from tomorrow until January 8.
Best known for playing Nicky Wheatley in the world’s longest-running TV soap, Kimberly is no stranger to the Theatre Royal because she was once a talented seamstress there, working on costumes and sets before getting her big acting break.
She said: “I have such fond and happy memories working in wardrobe here that it’ll feel like a homecoming. I’m excited to see all those lovely, friendly faces again."
Kimberly leads the cast alongside Britain’s Got Talent performers Jamie Leahey and puppet Chuck, and winner of BGT 2020, comedian and musician Jon Courtenay.
It’s a hometown show for St Helens teen Jamie. With sidekick Chuck he made it to the BGT grand final in June and finished runner-up. Jamie won't appear at every performance because as a 14 year old, his appearances on stage are limited by law.
Jon Courtenay, who plays Dandini, went one better than Jamie by winning BGT in 2020. He recently completed his first UK tour and is set to take his new solo play, Against The Odds to the Edinburgh Fringe next summer.
Theatre Manager Chantelle Nolan said: “This must be one of our strongest casts to date. Audiences are in for a treat.”
