Last Christmas’s Beauty and the Beast at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre has been nominated as best show for children and young people in the upcoming UK Theatre Awards. The winners are announced on October 20, so it's no wonder the same creative team has been brought back for this year's Aladdin (November 29--December 28).
Welcome to Scarbaresia, land of magic. Everyone loves magic here except Aladdin, who is rubbish at it. Which wouldn’t be a problem, except his dad – before he disappeared – was the most beloved sorcerer Scarbaresia had ever known. Aladdin works in a shop selling magical merchandise and when a mysterious stranger shows up promising him riches, power and answers about his dad, Aladdin thinks his dreams have come true...
Like last year's show, Aladdin is adapted by Nick Lane and directed by Gemma Fairlie. The cast this year is David Ahmad, Jessica Dennis, Matthew Koon, Carl Patrick and Ash Weir.
