Inspired by the true story of a woman buried alive by her abusive partner, playwright Katherine Chandler’s A Pretty Sh*tty Love premieres at Theatr Clwyd in July (8-23).
Hayley and Carl face the complexities of love and life - of dreaming of love, living in fear and finding the strength to get out.
Danielle Bird makes her Theatr Clwyd debut as Hayley, opposite Daniel Hawks ford, who returns to Theatr Clwyd to play Carl. Daniel made his professional debut at the theatre 20 years ago, playing Hamlet in Rosentcrantz and Guildenstern are Dead and in Arms and the Man.
Award-winning Katherine Chandler is an Welsh writer working across theatre, film, radio and television. Twice a finalist for the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn prize with her plays Before it Rains and Parallel Lines, she was more recently awarded the judges' prize in the Manchester-based Bruntwood prize for her play Bird. Currently Katherine is working with companies such as the National Theatre, National Theatre Wales, Birmingham Rep and BBC Drama.
