Bright Sparks Theatre Arts brings its company of actors with learning disabilites to Leeds Playhouse (October 15-16) for its latest devised show, Emporium Curioso.
Based on the performers own ideas, experiences and passions, the show explores the stories of objects in a magical little shop.
John Hudson, the company's artistic director, explained: "The play is made up of stories inspired by objects the cast members brought to rehearsals. Some objects hold dear memories that the actors will share. Our members, once again, have put their heart and soul into making this, so prepare to have a smile on your face and perhaps a tear in your eye."
Bright Sparks has been delivering inclusive, individual-centred drama projects in the Leeds area since 2012, working with people with learning disabilities, complex needs and autism. The company creates original theatre, including two large-scale shows a year, and also designs, organises and delivers applied drama projects for schools and communication workshops for university medical education.
Leeds Playhouse also runs year-round creative courses, workshops and club nights for adults with learning disabilities. It also hosts regular relaxed performances, adapted to meet the needs of audience members with learning disabilities.
