Casting has been announced for a new production of Noël Coward’s Brief Encounter, at Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre this summer.
The co-production – with the Octagon Theatre in Bolton and Theatre by the Lake in Keswick – features Pete Ashmore, Joey Hickman, Robert Jackson, Lara Lewis, Natasha Lewis, Rishi Manuel and Anne-Marie Piazza, and will be directed by Paul Robinson.
Emma Rice's much-performed adaptation turns Coward’s original screenplay inside out. She adds musical numbers and physical comedy while maintaining the classic romance of the original, in which strangers Laura and Alec meet in a railway waiting room and strike up a romance.
Brief Encounter can be seen at the SJT (July 22-August 27), in Keswick (September 14-October 8) and Bolton (October 20-November 5).
