Bonnie and Clyde live on in song

Bonnie and Clyde The Musical will embark on its first UK tour next year, with stops in Manchester and Blackpool among the initial venues.

The tour opens in February at Leicester's Curve after two seasons in London's West End, and will visit the Manchester Opera House (March 19-23) and Blackpool Winter Gardens (June 25-29) among 20 venues.

The show is the story of the infamous killers, two small-town kids who became the biggest folk heroes in America in the early 1930s. The show is the highly-glamourised version of a crime spree in which they robbed banks and murdered those who got in their way – before dying in a shoot-out.

The show features music by Tony nominee Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlett Pimpernell) and lyrics by Tony- and Oscar-winner Don Black (Sunset Boulevard, Aspects of Love), as well as a book by Emmy Award nominee Ivan Menchell.
