Thanks to great reviews and audience demand, Bolton Octagon's production of George Orwell's Animal Farm will go on UK tour next year.
Following a return to the Octagon (January 22-February 1), the show will do a tour of six so-far announced venues during February and March, returning to the North West for a week at Liverpool Playhouse (April 1-5).
Octagon Artistic Director Lotte Wakeham said: “We are thrilled to be taking Animal Farm on tour. It received an incredible response from audiences earlier this year, so we are hugely excited for even more audiences to see this fresh, compelling piece of theatre."
Orwell’s enduring and devastating satire on Communism comments on the imbalance within society and demonstrates how some are more equal than others. When the downtrodden animals of Manor Farm overthrow their master, they imagine it is the beginning of a new life of freedom and equality, but find themselves ensnared as one tyranny is quickly replaced by another.
The show is a co-production with Derby Theatre and Hull Truck, adapted by Ian Wooldridge.
