Bolton Octagon has announced a programme of online events to entertain audiences in lieu of a Christmas show this December.
The Octagon’s production of a new musical adaptation of A Christmas Carol has been postponed until next Christmas, so the venue will instead have an online series including Christmas-themed StoryMakers, a festive quiz, and a live reading of Dickens’ original Christmas Carol novel.
Families can let their imaginations run wild on a magical journey across the North Pole in StoryMakers Online: A Kidnapped Santa Claus. And a professional actor will bring Frank L Baum’s magical tale to life on December 18-19 with the live reading, which will have musical moments and surprises.
Octagon fans will be able to enjoy readings of a collection of five new plays with Better in Person on December 14. The Octagon has also joined group Burn Bright for a third event of an acclaimed anthology series: this instalment will celebrate northern female writers.
Octagon Artistic Director Lotte Wakeham said: “Even though we are unable to stage a full production in person, I’m confident these events will bring festive cheer to our audiences.”
Tickets for Storymakers and Better in Person are on sale now.
