GM Artist Hub has launched two new funding opportunities for independent Greater Manchester artists and creative freelances.
The hub was formed by 13 leading arts organisations across Greater Manchester to help independents get support, advice and opportunities during the coronavirus outbreak. The new Revive and Reboot funds will offer support following research in the creative community over the past six months.
The Revive fund offers £500 hardship bursaries to 10 eligible applicants, as well as networking support and a one-to-one advice session for the most financially vulnerable - including those ineligible for government help.
The Revive fund is for creative freelancers - artists, producers, technicians, designers, facilitators - facing financial hardship and have been unable to access other avenues of support.
The Reboot fund offers eight grants of £1,500 over three months to support development of a new performance-piece for live or digital presentation.
The fund also offers dedicated time and support for early-career artists to undertake research and development of a new creative idea, with a sharing event for an invited audience at the end of the three-month period. Applications are now open
Both funds have been made possible by a £60,000 grant to the hub by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, see here
Since its formation in April, GM Artist Hub has given over 300 private advice sessions to local artists.
Senior producer at The Lowry, Claire Symonds, added: “We are very excited to be launching these funds for artists and creatives across Greater Manchester. We've spent the last six months listening to our creative communities, and these two strands offer money and professional development support to early-career artists and creatives currently facing financial hardship."
More opportunities will be announced soon.
