Alexandra Burke to lead Addams Family cast

Faces to names: the cast of The Addams Family

Alexandra Burke (X Factor, Sister Act, The Bodyguard, Curfew) will star as as Morticia Addams in the new UK tour of comedy musical The Addams Family, calling at Salford's Lowry (August 12-16) and Blackpool Opera House (August 26-30).

Lesley Joseph (Birds of a Feather, Young Frankenstein, Sister Act) joins the cast as Grandma; Clive Rowe (The Prince of Egypt, Sister Act, A Christmas Carol) is Uncle Fester and Ricardo Afonso (Jesus Christ Superstar, Thriller Live, We Will Rock You) is Gomez Addams. Further cast to be announced.

Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, is all grown-up and has a shocking secret: she has fallen in love with a sweet young man from a respectable family. Will Gomez manage to keep his daughter’s secret until the two families meet for a fateful dinner?

The show has a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, the writers of the multi award-winning Jersey Boys, while music and lyrics by Tony Award-nominated Andrew Lippa and is based on the characters created by Charles Addams.
