Manchester indie venue 52two has launched an arts charity in memory of one of its strongest supporters.
Actor Phil Michael Aizlewood, who took his own life in 2024, was "a remarkable person and a phenomenal actor, whose passing sent shockwaves through his community far beyond what we could have ever anticipated" said 53two creative director, Simon Naylor.
To honour Phil's memory, his friends and colleagues have established the PMA Grant through 53two's registered charity. Donors will pledge a small amount each year and a committee will propose causes to receive the money raised.
Nominees must be individuals or groups with arts-related objectives, particularly those that enhance mental health; individuals in search of help with drama school expenses, under-represented or under-served individuals who might need help pursuing educational or personal development; community groups promoting arts education, or personal development programs, using arts as a tool for engagement.
Funds will be collected through the venue's existing fundraising platform and held separately from the venue's general funds.
